Peeling, cracking and boards that are rotten. My husband has replaced several but more need done. It will cost us about $25,00 for a new deck.
Wood is rotten and it’s peeling horribly. Applied this product last summer. Hardly any door traffic on deck all winter.

I would suggest that no one purchase their products. We put the liquid rawhide on our log home and it destroyed the logs and we cannot get it off to put something else on. Call Behr and am told Too bad your problem. We had a class action suit and we paid off so now you get nothing. What kind of company says and does that. One that you do not want to do business with.
Used 11 gallons of deckover on an 800+ sq ft deck that I built. Within 5 months it started bubbling and peeling. You could literally peel the product off in sheets. Would’ve went with an opaque stain if I knew this was the result. I did complaint to HD and they offered to send 11 more gallons and a jug of cleaner……because clearly I must have “idiot” stamped on my forehead.

This was done in April 2013, the deck over has continually, come up in different places and also had to replace rotten wood caused by using this product. I am currently requesting my statement fro Home Depot used during this period. I have my bank statement where I paid contractor $1150. Please notify how to include myself in the case. I have the same problem…The paint is peeling all over the deck. Used this product & it is terrible.
I can’t imagine how much someone will charge to completely strip our deck. I think paying for composite decking/installed would be fair compensation for my time and money spent on this poorly made product. I will be looking into how to become a part of the lawsuit. We would like to be included in this class action law suit. Our deck was painted with DeckOver about three years ago so we don’t have any of the receipts. We noticed peeling and bubbling after the first winter – we applied it just like the directions.

I also used the Behr Deck Over and less than 18 months it’s peeling like crazy. I am dissatisfied , especially with the cost and what Behr and Home Depot advertised it would do. This product didn’t even hold up two years. Now I have to prepare to remove it and go with another cover, and possible replace some wood work also.
So I sanded it down and repainted it with the Opaque which did the same thing. By year four I sanded the deck down again and applied the Deckover textured paint. Home Depot said this one would work. But at least I won’t slip on the deck.
Moisture had gotten below the peeling paint and rotted boards. But we had just installed this deck 5 years ago. So from the dat we installed the deck to now not including we still have front deck to replace and stairs we have wasted to date $6000+ because of this product. We probably have another 1000 to 2000 left to spend fix it all.

I have a small deck on front of house with roof over it. My large back deck is going to probably be replaced. I purchased 3 five gallon buckets and I totally regret using it. Went on my front porch steps and my front porch in one day started chipping within weeks. Now my front porch in my front steps look horrible, I have to completely re-sand everything, and start over.
Was told by behr the wood must have been to damp inside ! Didn’t know a meat thermometer was needed to test interior dampness of wood. The plaintiffs maintain they would not have purchased or used Behr DeckOver if they had known it would not perform as advertised.
My husband insisted on this product because it was advertised as the best new thing for decks and he wanted to reduce upkeep. Well he passed away and now I am stuck with more upkeep than before we used this . Followed instructions word for word and its peeling and chipping after about 6 months. This seems to be happening more so in the higher traffic areas. It’s not horrible yet but I can tell it gets worse with each rain.
The deck was dry, no rain before or after application. It has peeled and been an absolute nightmare. This is the worst stuff in the world to use. Add us to this suit, I have pictures and samples that I have collected.
So we are out the money for the product, the labor to apply it and now the cost of getting it removed not to mention the damage to our deck. According to the Home Depot class action lawsuit, the plaintiffs each purchased Behr DeckOver and applied the resurfacer according to the instructions provided by Behr. According to the Home Depot class action lawsuit, deck resurfacer is a type of coating that is meant to reduce the hassle of regular upkeep.
